You shouldn’t have to be located in the Silicon Valley or New York City to get the data center you need. Chances are your company chose your location for many good business reasons. If that where you want your data center then that’s where it should be. Each Compass standalone data center is built using our patent pending Truly Modular Architecture. This enables us to provide you with a data center that is dedicated to you, hardened to provide a permanent solution, Tier III* certified to ensure that your facility delivers a standards-based level of reliability, LEED Gold compliant for enhanced efficiency and untethered by geographic constraints so it can be located where you need it. Your Compass data center is only delivered after a fully integrated systems test (Level 5) commissioning performed by HP-EYP to ensure that every system is concurrently maintainable and ready to support your critical business applications. With our shrink wrapped off the shelf approach everything is included.
To learn how all modular data centers are not the same, read our white paper, “The Modular Data Center Conundrum”.
- CompassPod
Each CompassPod features 1.2MW of power to support rack densities of up to 20kW without containment for you or your customers and 10,000 square feet of column free 36” raised floor space at your disposal (more) - CompassPowerCenter
The PowerCenter features a 2N power (PDU, UPS, switchgear) structure coupled with an N+1 mechanical design to provide the concurrently maintainable operational capability defined by the Tier III* standard you need to maximize your organization’s or customer’s uptime. (more) - CompassStructure
Each CompassPod is housed within the hardened shell of a CompassStructure. Compliant with Miami-Dade County standards to resist winds of up to 150 mph and the 1.25 earthquake importance factor, the resilience of the CompassStructure enables you to locate your Compass data center solution wherever you need it to be. (more) - CompassSupport
The CompassSupport module contains all of the elements needed for your data center operations including the loading dock, lobby, restrooms, secondary POP room and office space. (more)
A Standards-Based Data Center Where You Need It
Your shrink-wrapped standalone Compass data center arrives fully Level 5 commissioned to ensure that every system is concurrently maintainable and delivers the level of uptime specified by the Uptime Institute’s Tier III* standard via our 2N power architecture to support your important business applications.
By building each of our data centers to the independent and industry leading standards established by the Uptime Institute and the US Green Building Council (USGBC), Compass enhances the assuredness of your decision making process. You have the security of knowing that your new data center will operate to recognized standards for reliability and efficiency. By building your facility to these standards, Compass ensures that your data center can support your critical applications in the most reliable and cost effective manner possible.
A Hardened Solution
Your Compass data center provides you with a permanent solution. This means that it has been hardened to withstand extreme environmental conditions. Each Compass data center is encased within a shell made up of 12” thick, steel reinforced insulated pre-cast concrete walls. An 18” multilayered roof, that includes a 4” concrete slab, provides a Level 1.5 seismic importance factor and enables it to withstand winds (including uplift) of up to 149mph (the equivalent of a Level 4 Hurricane). The incorporation of this hardened exterior enables you to locate your Compass data center wherever you need it, without having to design, build, and pay for a structure of your own, as is the case with many pre-fabricated data center alternatives.
This is a clear differentiator for Compass Datacenters as our competitors simply don’t provide the quality and strength of the data center shell that we do.

A Versatile Design
Speaking of your data center floor flexibility, can you control how much the software uses of the server and storage capacity? We didn’t think so. The reality of the world is that most software does not drive the full use of the server (virtualized or otherwise). As a result, it’s tough to predict what your actual usage will be from rack-to-rack. Not to mention the patch, network and storage…That’s why your Compass solution will support rack densities that cover the spectrum up to 20kW without containment (from 0 to 400 W/sf). Just imagine what you can do using ASHRAE TC 9.9 best practices including containment.
