On May 28, 2025, the Green Building Initiative (GBI) unveiled its new Green Globes Data Center Campus Certification, a program developed in collaboration with Compass Datacenters to address the unique sustainability challenges of large-scale digital infrastructure. This certification streamlines the assessment of multiple buildings within a data center campus, allowing operators to evaluate redundant systems and interconnected infrastructure holistically. The initiative aims to enhance environmental performance, meet evolving stakeholder expectations, and support long-term resilience in the face of growing energy demands.
Compass Datacenters, recently recognized by the Financial Times as one of the fastest-growing companies in the Americas, played a pivotal role in shaping this certification. Their commitment to sustainable design and operations underscores the importance of industry collaboration in driving meaningful environmental progress.
Amy Marks, Senior Vice President of Innovation at Compass Datacenters, emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainability, stating, “Sustainability isn’t just a goal for us—it’s an outcome. It’s the natural result of how we design, build, and operate. We believe that doing the right thing is good business. And our commitment to continuous improvement drives us forward—from the materials we choose, to how we steward energy, water, and community relationships. This recognition reflects the hard work of every person at Compass—because sustainability lives in our culture.”
