Celebrating the Launch of the MEI Data Center Pathway Program at Meridian Community College

This fall marks an exciting milestone as Meridian Community College launches its inaugural MEI cohort, expanding access to technical education and strengthening the workforce pipeline across East Mississippi. The demand for skilled technical talent continues to grow as the data center industry expands across the country. The MEI Data Center Pathway Program was created to help meet that demand through hands-on education and direct connections to industry.

To celebrate, Compass Datacenters and Meridian Community College are bringing together industry partners, educators, community leaders, students, and job seekers for a two-day event featuring the official MEI Program Launch and Career Fair.

On July 31, Compass executives will join City of Meridian and MCC leadership to celebrate the official launch of the program ahead of its inaugural cohort beginning this fall. The Career Fair will follow later on Friday afternoon and continue Saturday morning, giving participating employers the opportunity to engage with the community and connect with current and future skilled trades and data center talent.

Building the Future Data Center Workforce

When Compass Datacenters founded the MEI (Mechanical, Electrical and Information Technology) Data Center Pathway Program in partnership with Texas State Technical College, the goal was clear: open real doors into high-paying careers and train the workforce the industry urgently needs. Research shows more than half a million skilled trade jobs go unfilled every year. Not because the work isn’t there, because the trained workers aren’t. For every person entering a skilled trade today, 20 positions sit empty. And the gap is growing.

A four-year degree isn’t for everyone. For people ready to work, ready to build and ready to learn, this program is a direct route to careers that pay well, grow fast, and aren’t going anywhere.
